As an Anglican convert its hard to fault a book like this. Its brevity gives the reader enough to spur on one's own research including visit to a local church to see if it matches what is described in the book.

The author seemsat home with many Anglican clergy and associates I have met over the years/5(4). It's simple cover hides a real gem of a book that traces the history of the Anglican church through the lives and influences of key people in its development. It is a very interactive book as there are many places where the reader is invited to reflect on a /5(2).

Not exactly the most objective book, but warm and light-hearted. A good, brief overview of Anglican principles for anyone vaguely curious, and an enjoyable read, faults and all. While some may argue that the obvious bias and generalisations of the author lessen the credibility of the book, I enjoyed the personal touch and sense of informality/5.

The Prayer Book itself commits the church to engaging creatively with various times, seasons, and cultures, so it is right that people should worship in ‘such a tongue as the people understandeth.’ So the wide range of Anglican liturgies used around the world are still ‘common prayer’.
